My time under Saurfang's regiment at Angrathar the Wrathgate. Cold, icy, and chaotic; pretty much all of Northrend so no suprise to me. Scourge pouring out of the gate like water flowing out of a spilt wine glass. Looks like I get to be the wash rag and clean it up along with some of the other grunts in here. I got time to spar with them, and they suprised me greatly; they never whined they just kept growling and roaring through the "torment" I was giving them, just the kind of warriors I want to fight alongside. Still, they have only seen the beggining of what pain they could experiance if they decide to get reckless and foolhardy in the main battle, which im sure will be soon. Saurfang called us together in a rally, which gives signal that the battle will be soon. Anticipation shafted through me, I readied my axe and mace and joined in the rally. Saurfang spoke to us, probably in a speech or telling us what we are supposed to do, I couldnt hear because I was far in the back of the line. In the distance I heard shouts and clanging steel, the alliance has started without us? Saurfang turned around to the battlefield. As if from nowhere I heard grinding steel and a barbaric howl from the now louder fray. Saurfang turned to us and yelled to where even I could hear: "Rise up sons of the Horde, blood and glory await us!" We all responded in jeer and we all called for our wolves. I whistled for Shadow and he leaped to me expectingly. As I hopped on his back he gave a proud howl and charged forth along with the rest. My heart was racing with blood lust, the battle horn making it all more intense. "Lok'tar Ogar!" shouted saurfang as we approached the combat, alliance soldiers getting battered by vykrul. "For the Horde!" We all answered. The grunts spread out to find their own peice of combat, and I took a boosted leap from Shadow's back, unsheathing my axe, and cleaved one of the vykrul's head's in half with the momentum of my landing. In an instant, everything was instinct and rage, my weapons dancing through Vykrul like sand paper. Before I could even tell, it was all over. The Vykrul were all but defeated by the Horde and Alliance's combined force. Now, only Angrather stood before us, its gate resembling a sharptooth frenzy's maw. The Alliance general, Bolvar Fordragon, and Saurfang stood forth towards the gate. Bolvar made his taunting threat out to Arthas. During his threat I noticed, from the corner of my eye, a human next to me looking up at me. I returned the look curiously but he gulped deeply and returned his gaze to the Wrathgate, cold sweat dampening him instantly. I couldnt help but snicker. And then, a sound of grinding metal came from the gate, I looked and beheld a very familiar figure looming from the gate's shadow. My heart tightened, blood pumping with rage and I could feel my teeth instantly grit as I said the foulest name to me in Azeroth: "Arthas...". In an instant, past hauntings flew through my mind, ones that still haunt my every dream. "You speak of justice, of cowardice? I will show you the justice of the grave, and the true meaning....of fear." The words echoed in my head as they passed to me in the freezing air, the anger almost made me lose my grip to my self-control. "Enough talk, let it be finished!!!!!!" I heard from a familiar Saurfang, noticing his charge to the Lich King with his axed raised high. "Drannosh, no!!!" I attempted to shout out, but he couldnt hear me, then again he probably wouldnt have cared with the blind rage he was charging with. In a loud crack, Frostmourne met with Saurfang's axe, the axe shattered like glass which left Saurfang completely exposed to the rest of the mighty swing. The horror of it, Saurfang was brought down hard and dead. "In one strike..." I felt myself studder horrificly. There was nothing to do, Saurfang's soul was now at the mercy of Frostmourne as the dreaded blade sucked it out like a straw. "You will pay, for all the lives you've stolen, TRAITOR!" I heard Bolvar say in the distance. It amazes me how he still stands his composure after watching one of the mightiest in the horde fall in one fel strike. "Boldly stated, but there is nothing you can--" The Lich King's return was drowned out in a sudden explosion. I looked behind me to see a thick green cloud filling the air, a sickening smell followed it. As the explosion sounded out I heard a devious laugh coming from an above cliff. I looked, as everyone else did, to see a robed forsaken. "Did you think we had forgotten? Did you think we had forgiven?" Catapults gathered around him in veiw, barrels of whatever-the-hell it is loaded in the machines. "Behold now, the terrible vengeance of the Forsaken!" the robed undead shouted. "Betrayed..." I said to myself, stunned in mere shock. The barrels of toxins flew through the air I watched around me, the blight bombs making more deafening explosions as the plague toxins poured everywhere. The horror compelled me, locking me into place, forced to watched good men and women; alliance and Horde both falling dead to the gas like flies to a repellant. I snapped out of it after hearing Bolvar's warning cry to "Fall back!!!" I ran, with every bit of adrenaline in my system, I ran. Before I could run three feet I found myself flying through the air from a backwash of one of the exploding barrels. I tried to get to my feet before the gas could hit me but it was far to late as i noticed a greenish yellow cloud embrace me like a scarab swarm. I covered my mouth, although much of the toxin already entered my lungs. I continued to charge away from the hazardous fray, already beggining to cough roughly as the toxin lanced pain into my every nerve and sucked my strength away. I kept running, I was but steps away from the snow licked ground following several steeps of stairs, but my strength kept on waning and washing away until I had not even the strength to stand. I was brough to the ground, face down, gasping for air that seemed to reject my poisoned lungs. Blood drooled and splattered from my lips as i crawled as far as I could. I had no strength left after that, my eyesight began to darken. "Is this...it..." I thought, struggling from death's reaching embrace. I didnt want to die, not like this anyway, I wanted to die in battle either by blade in my gut or an axe lopping off my head-anything but a sickness or affliction. I felt tears of defeat well up in my eyes, I began to think of everyone at home. Andee...Drechmah...Mahnek...everyone in Solace. I would give anything to say my goodbies to them before descending to death. I shut my eyes tight, the welling tears stroking down my cheeks. I lied there, the thoughts of all my friends and comrades keeping me alive through the shrieking cold and the feiry pain that melted through my body. The smell of smoke rose through the air, but it was a sweeter and refreshing smell that seemed to also keep me functioning and I heard faint flapping noises above me to. In that moment, when the last of my strength of will faded to its last zenith, I heard a panting sound. As the panting came closer I felt a light lick in my ear and then a saddened whine. In an instant, hope bled through me again, with all the clean air I had in my lungs I shouted out. "Shadow!". The whine turned to a happy bark as i flicked my eyes open to see his grey, withered face in front of mine. Shadow took the back neck of my armor and attempted to lift me to his back, I did my best to help him as I took my left arm and reached to the coat of fur on his back and brought myself upon him. I held on tight as the wolf lunged to a distance after a familiar, prideful howl. I kept my eyes held tight, taking breathes as best I could although most failed to a bloodied cough. The sound of distant chatter began to slowly fill the air as the wolf bolted through the snowy mounds. As the chatter got to its loudest it suddenly turned to gasps and it began to sound more concerned. The wolf slowed to a stop, and I knew by then I was safe as I let myself drop to the ground. I fell asleep right there, even though I knew there was a chance I would never wake up I also knew that I must be in good hands now that I am out of the Scourge's reach.
